    Rocio Garcia

    Senior Organizing Director
Rocio Garcia is a Chicago-raised organizer. Born and raised in La Villita on the Southwest Side, she is the daughter and granddaughter of Mexican immigrants. García’s commitment to organizing is rooted in her family’s experience with wage theft, housing and food insecurity, language barriers, and in early memories of civic action alongside her parents. Rocío García is currently the Senior Organizing Director at Grassroots Collaborative, a coalition of community and labor groups across Chicago and Peoria. She leads the People’s Unity Platform–created to bring together the people’s agenda ahead of the 2024 municipal election and currently leading the “Babies Before Billionaires” campaign aimed at getting $1 billion in progressive revenue. She previously served as the Organizing Director at United Working Families, a multi-racial, working-class independent political organization that has elected over 20 members to city, state, county, and federal office.
