Chicago Creatives for Justice 2023

What is the Chicago Creatives for Justice?

The program provides space for aspiring graphic designers and illustrators to develop a variety of beneficial techniques for movement work, because art is critical in any movement or campaign. The program allows us to further build community and collaborate with emerging movement artists in creating visuals as a catalyst for social change.

Please see their work below for our #BringChicagoHome, #TreatmentNotTrauma, and #ILGND4SocialHousing campaigns!

Bring Chicago Home

H Kapp-Klote (he/they)

H took the time to understand the ever-changing needs of the BCH campaign as it reved up to pass city council and get on the ballot for March, 2024. H applied his background in communications to provide engaging emails for new email subscribers.

Tara Levy (she/her)

Tara honed in on her ability to tell stories through poetry and imagery to create a reel that highlights BCH’s fight to address homelessness. Tara sourced content from BCH’s communication channels to provide this thoughtful and poetic video.

Treatment Not Trauma

Louise Macaraniag (they/them)

Louise supported the TNT team to synthesize a 28-page informational document into an easy-to-read one-pager. Louise designed a printable document with beautiful illustrations and a design that stands out.

Illinois Green New Deal for Social Housing

Inmagela Abreu (they/them/elle)

Inma created a series of reels to support the IL GND’s organizing and outreach goals. Inma, with a multimedia approach, played with storytelling, illustration, and humorous tactics to relay the campaign’s messaging.

Veronica Rodriguez (they/she)

Veronica created a video that answers the question, “What is Social Housing?” Veronica’s presence in the video, ability to break down key points of the campaign, and naming the issues for all to understand will be helpful to meet the outreach efforts moving forward.
